| Rome
We just got back from our first big vacation of 2007, Rome, Italy. We saw almost everything we wanted to see in Rome and Vatican City in two days...the kids were exhausted at the end of the trip.
Be sure to check out the Travel pages for more adventures of the Motes Clan. Cheryl is headed to Nove, Italy this weekend (I'm not sure if she's going to take any pictures or not), then we have a camping trip to Garmisch scheduled for Easter weekend.

Here's a picture of Drew and Kaitlyn's first train ride from the Rome Airport to Termini Station in downtown Rome. From there, we got ripped off by a cab driver to our hotel...the was the last cab ride we took, after that, it was all Metro rides, where Kaitlyn will probably develop a case of claustrophobia.

Here's Drew and Cheryl outside of the Colosseum, probably the best picture that we got of the Colosseum and it was our first place of interest to see while in Rome.

Here's Kaitlyn and Drew trying to climb the steps into the colosseum to become Gladiators.

Here's a picture of the Trevi Fountain. We took a horse and carriage ride from the Spanish Steps (not shown), mainly because we were really tired at this point in the day...but we were glad we did because we got to see the Pantheon (not shown) and some other things we wouldn't have seen otherwise.
|

Here's Kaitlyn throwing her coin into the Trevi fountain...with as many coins as they threw in, they should have many more trips to Rome.

Day 2. Vatican City. We thought we could go and see the Vatican in the morning and maybe see some other things in the afternoon...well, it took all morning to get into the Vatican. We finally jumped the line with a tour group after a hour and a half in line. The tour was fantastic, but it was about three hours and went through lunch (so, we had crabby children for the later part, but overall, they were great).

|

Our tour guide was putting his hand up so everyone could see him, well, Drew decided he too wanted to be a tour guide.

Kerry, Drew and Kaitlyn taking a break from the tour. Overall, the Sistine Chapel was probably the highlight of highlights that we saw. It was amazing and if you get an opportunity to go, you should...but go in the afternoon, no lines.
