Herrenchiemsee Camping Trip

29 July 07

Herrenchiemsee
We just got back from a camping trip to Garmisch and a trip to the final King Ludwig Castle on our tour, Herrenchiemsee. Herrenchiemsee was King Ludwig's tribute to King Louis XIV of France and was meant to be a replica of the Palace of Versailles. This castle costs twice as much as the two others (Linderhof and Neuschwanstein) combined. Only 20 of the 70 rooms were completed before King Ludwig's sudden and mysterious death.

We had a better camping trip this time, no pesky birds keeping us up at night...and the kids still enjoy sleeping in the tent.

Don't forget to check on our other vacation on the Travel page.

Here are Kaitlyn and Drew hugging outside of Herrenchiemsee...if anyone knows what the pronunciation is, please let me know.

Here's a picture of the gardens at Herrenchiemsee. The gardens were actually suppose to be twice the size that they are, but again were not completed.

Here's Drew, Kaitlyn and Cheryl with the castle in the background.

Here are all of us with one of the 10 fountains in the background.

Here is Kaitlyn on a rock at the campsite in Garmisch.

Cheryl relaxing outside the tent.

Drew playing out of the tent.
